West Valley School District is seeking adaptable, dependable, and collaborative individuals to join our team as Core Substitute Teachers. Core Subs are assigned primarily to either the elementary or secondary grade band, and may be reassigned as needed to support district-wide coverage. This role requires a high degree of flexibility, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations across various school sites.

Core substitute teachers are committing to work daily during the school year and will be benefit-eligible on the first day of the month following their start date.

 

SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the building principal or designee, this position serves as a substitute for District teachers by educating students in the assigned grade level or subject area. Each Core Substitute Teacher will generally be assigned to a designated school level (Elementary or Secondary) and may be assigned to other grade levels based on District-wide substitute staffing needs.

 

When a substitute teaching assignment is not available, Core Substitute Teachers will be guaranteed work and assigned to a District school site on a rotating basis. During these assignments, Core Substitute Teachers will provide additional support as directed by the building principal or designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Substitute positions are employed as on-call positions and paid for hours worked. 

 

Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must complete a fingerprinted background check with the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Employment is contingent upon clearance of the background check.
